Gemma Fearn, a British actress and model, moved across the pond to New York City in 2009 to pursue her dream of performing. There she graduated from both the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and their elite theatre company. After completing her studies at the American Academy, she moved to Orlando, Florida in pursuit of work in our thriving, yet humid little industry. After only one week here in the sunshine state she found herself cast in our show and it’s lucky for us that we found her when we did as we’re thrilled to have real British talent on board. Her passion and drive is dedicated to the memory of her grandfather, who is with her always.
Dubbed ‘Sarah Heartburn’ before the age of 5, Barbara has been performing all of her life. At 20, she took a detour to enjoy a successful career in Silicon Valley, subsequently raising a family with her husband Paul. Of everything she’s done, she says she’s most proud of homeschooling their two children and co-founding a non-profit, LifeStar Institute. Her children now grown, Barbara is returning to the craft she loves so well, having recently played Hesther Soloman in Equus to critical praise. We are excited to have her among our cast bringing her talented and wicked wit to the pitiful character of Ruth Frankelsheim.
Brett Waldon is an actor, illustrator, improviser, cartoonist, and t-shirt designer. He recently appeared in the Off-Broadway show "Flanagan's Wake" and the 2010 New York Fringe Festival show "The Battle of Spanktown." New to the Orlando area, Brett has been lucky enough to have acted alongside Shrek and Puss In Boots within his first two months of being in Florida He enjoys Dr. Pepper, talking in third person, and a good night of karaoke.
Camille Mazal is not only an Orlando area physician, but even more fantastic…she’s married to David. Her family is from Argentina and she grew up in South Florida, but her medical training has taken her all over the world to places such as England, New York, Dominica and the very exotic Orlando. When she’s not busy saving lives, she runs a craft business at home designing custom made gifts. With a love for both medicine and the arts, Camille is excited to join our cast and immerse herself in yet another creative outlet. Please remember… although she may look white, she’s Latin. And she's fiesty.
Joe Anacleto is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he and David took their first acting classes. That was in the prehistoric age before there was a world wide web, there was quite literally like a caveman, a t-rex, and the two of them on the campus at that time. Who knew that they would be reunited once again all these years later to work on Smithereen. When he is not acting, Joe enjoys to spend time with his wife, Kirsten, and their new baby boy, Colin.
Mike, who is more famously know as Fattie in some circles, has lived in the Orlando area since he was a little kid. Yes, he was once little! Mike moved down with his family from a small suburb outside of Chicago and never left. He attended the University of Central Florida where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Health Services Admistration, and has worked at one of the area's hospital systems for over 13 years. For fun, and of course extra money, he has worked on and off as a stagehand for many years as well. This production marks his first attempt at acting...hopefully not his last!
Kenneth is a man whose career spans a multitude of disciplines, and by joining our cast, his journey comes full circle. He began his pursuit of acting in his college days back around 1906. In the vaudevillian days, acting did not provide much in the way of compensation, so he began working behind the scenes in construction. After a long and successful run as a builder of multi-million dollar homes, he decided his skills would be best served by the Habitat for Humanity where he has served as a chief builder, mentoring to children and volunteers of all ages. With a warm heart, Kenneth recently decided to once again pursue his dreams which led him to our production. We are excited to have him on board as our resident hard ass and winner of the 2012 fabulous mustaches award.
David is an Orlando native who, after graduating from the University of Florida, moved to Los Angeles in the summer of 1997. After surviving the initial culture shock, he settled into the actor's life and was introduced to Alex Albrecht of current Diggnation fame. Hitting it off as fast friends of humor, they went on to form The Misfit Toys Comedy Improv Troupe, which ran for three years. In 2004, David returned to Florida and continued his studies both in front of and behind the camera, the culmination of which has led to Smithereen, which he is now excited to present to you.
Toni, aka "Girl Toni," as an avid fan of web series who is always up to date on whatever funny stuff is floating around the Internet, agreed to take on the role of Jodi and participate in our production helping out with whatever we needed. She had no idea the extent of the things we would be needing! She has, however, adeptly handled the responsibilities of being not only a performer, but a 2nd AC, a set photographer, and along with her husband Tony, a set loader and scratcher. In her spare time, she also works as a registered nurse in the ICU here in downtown Orlando, which would make her a Jill of all trades.
Tony, aka "Man Tony," initially signed on as a camera and sound operator for the production. As fate would have it, we had a scene to shoot one night with no one to perform it, and as a man willing to take on anything, Tony agreed to try his hand at it. To much success, Lothar Pieworthy was born. Tony and his wife Toni, hence the distinguishing nicknames, have been indispensable serving as both crew and actors for this production. In the moments when he is not engaged in filmmaking with us, Tony enjoys to brew beer and slaughter orcs with his wife in a popular MMO.
A lucky find, this one. She's the lovely daughter of Barbara Logan (aka evil Ruth), which proves talent runs deep in their family. She's studied in prestigious academies and has traveled the world, spreading her magical acting wizardry across nations. They still send her thank you cards.
